The ARMOR Lab welcomes post-doctoral scholar Dr. Irene Zhao! This position is funded by ORISE and co-hosted with the DoD-VA Extremity Trauma and Amputation Center of Excellence (EACE). Dr. Zhao joins us from her previous post-doctoral fellowship at UT Austin. She received her Ph.D. from Johannes Kepler University (Linz, Austria).

Ph.D. Candidate Long Wang participated in the 2018 Asian-Pacific-Euro Summer School (APESS) on Smart Structures Technology and was awarded the Best Presenter Award during the final competition. APESS provides lectures and hands-on experience on structural dynamics and control, smart structures technology, and structural health monitoring.

Prof. Ken Loh is honored with the 2018 Structural Health Monitoring Person-of-the-Year Award. This award was announced at the European Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring (Manchester, UK). The award states that the "Person-of-the-Year should have made an outstanding contribution to the field of SHM that will benefit society."

Ph.D. Candidates Sumit Gupta and Long Wang, along with Prof. Ken Loh, participated in the inaugural Innovation Fair as part of the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Naval Exercise in Honolulu, HI. They showcased their Office of Naval Research projects and each hosted a booth with live demonstrations of new technologies for warfighter protection.
